SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Marketing Department of the National Arts Centre is currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic communications plan for NAC Music Department programs and initiatives. You will equally be responsible for all communications materials and initiatives for the NAC Music Department with a focus on media relations, public relations and communications for the NAC Orchestra. You will also work with other marketing department staff on cross-disciplinary communications projects. The position reports to the Senior Marketing Manager, NAC Orchestra.
Skill Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of the performing arts and previous experience in the orchestral music industry, would be ideal;
- Superior communications skills; you must possess the ability to communicate verbally (public speaking, public and media relations) and in writing (drafting, editing);
- Ability to draft and conceptualize multiple methods of communication (house programs, press releases, correspondence, etc.), you must also possess strong attention to detail in your own work;
- Direct experience in working with journalists and the media on a regional, national and international level;
- Knowledge of arts media landscape in National Capital Region is essential and on a national level is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to engage journalists to earn coverage in both traditional and non-traditional media
- Strong knowledge of social media tactics, as well as digital and mobile communications;
- Strong leadership skills, ability to take initiative and demonstrate sound judgement;
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure while managing tight deadlines;
