What will be my key activities?
As a member of the Music Department team, the Orchestra Personnel Manager will ensure the smooth running of all orchestra rehearsals and performances. Principal duties will include the engagement of extra and substitute musicians, preparation and maintenance of musician budgets and payroll information, and monitoring compliance with the Collective Agreement. The Orchestra Personnel Manager will also manage the audition process, oversee immigration paperwork for international musicians, assist the Orchestra Operations Manager and supervise the Assistant Personnel Manager.
Other responsibilities will include: serve as a liaison between the Music Director and the Orchestra musicians, the administrative staff and musicians and the management and musicians’ union.
- A university degree in Music and a minimum of four years of professional experience in orchestra management;
- Comprehensive knowledge of orchestra personnel management;
- Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.
- Ability to identify and manage priorities under pressure;
- A good knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Ability to communicate fluently in both of Canada’s official languages is an asset.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
